ABOUT THE PROGRAM
In honor of the 350th celebration, LPCCD re-launched our humanities program Music Speaks, the free interactive lecture, music and multimedia arts series, is designed to increase Newark citizens' appreciation for literature, art, photography, music, and dance. Leveraging the arts. LPCCD is also abe to educate, inform and empower the community as well as celebrate it. Under the Music Speaks: Rock the Shot events, we addressed the use of technology in art - specifically digital photography - to engage, empower and give a voice to youth and adults in Newark, NJ. Music Speaks: Rock the Shot was activated in three wards - South ward, North ward and Central ward during Saturdays in July 2016. Then, the student photographers obtained field experience at the highly attended Lincoln Park Music Festival weekend, July 29th - 31st 2016 and Halsey Street Festival, September 8th, 2016.

Baraka, 211 Community Impact and Grassroots Foundation's efforts to raise awareness around healthy lifestyles among youth and adults in Newark, NJ. Held on the morning of The Roots Picnic NYC, Weequahic Park came alive with the sounds of a live band and runners feet hitting the pavement for a 5K run or 1K walk. #ROCKTHEBLOCK 1st Annual Sneaker Donation Drive For Newark's Needy #FestivalSeason in partnership with Prudential Center

In July 2016, the 11th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival expanded our Sustainable Health and Wellness Village (SHWV) from its roots as a "mini-festival" within LPMF, to a series of events leading up to the festival, where the whole city had the opportunity to get involved, get active and get moving toward a healthier lifestyle! Part of our SHWV efforts included the collection of sneakers for Newark's needy in partnership with Prudential Center.

The Prudential Center supported LPCCD's Autism Walk on May 22, the Music Speaks: Rock The Shot photography program, the Lincoln Park Music Festival Kids Zone Village and more. We began at Music Speaks: Music Festival in July and, our partner Prudential Center, held their own internal sneaker drive. Together, we collected nearly 8 boxes and barrels of "kicks" for our fellow Newarkers in need.

On Friday, September 9th, The City of Newark, Catholic Charities and Bridges Outreach presented I.M.P.A.C.T Day in Lincoln Park, a day of services for the needy and homeless. Together with our partner Prudential Center, we donated our boxes of footwear at this event.
